The United Kingdom

The United Kingdom (UK) is a sovereign country in Western Europe, member of the EU since 1973. In 2016, the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. The legal process of leaving the EU began on 29 March 2017, with the UK's invocation of Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon, formally notifying the EU of the UK's intention to leave. The article stipulates that the negotiations to leave will last at least two years. The UK remains a full member of the EU during this time.

The UK's de facto official language is English and the currency is Pound sterling (GBP).
